We are a few days away from the start of Major League Baseball’s 2022 season, and the Seattle Mariners announced on Monday that its Opening Day is sold out.

Seattle police officers will be back directing traffic in and out of tonight’s Mariners game at T-Mobile Park, but they might not be doing that job for much longer. This is the intersection of Seattle police reforms and unexpected real-world applications. Seattle wants to move the parking enforcement division under a new civilian umbrella. That would mean that parking enforcement officers would no longer be badged or sworn officers. That hasn’t happened yet, as the city figures out how to make the transition, but it is coming.
