With customers ordering from the truck s counter and either taking it to go or sitting at one of the picnic tables at the outdoor Marina Munch overlooking the water, social distancing was not a problem. It actually turned out the best decision to open a food truck when we did, Guido said. The idea behind the food concept is as simple as its name states. 

Food truck parks in St Augustine thrive throughout COVID pandemic

Just talk to William Venanzio, aka Captain Scallywag, operator of a pirate-themed food truck that makes its home at Coconut Barrel, an artisan flea market at 3175 U.S. 1 South in St. Augustine. The business parking lot houses a rotating schedule of mobile canteens, serving specialty items from German cuisine to YAMO, an Italian street food concept.  The owners of Coconut Barrel opened up their parking area to food trucks about a year ago, at the same time opening up the door to businesses with an established following, as well as more fledgling ventures, like Captain Scallywag, looking for a foothold to build upon.
