The thread of wildfire is not over everywhere. Good evening. Pg e started checking their equipment today but high winds kept them from reaching many areas. Here are the latest numbers, they have cut power to 345,000 customers in Northern California but by 6 pm they restored power to more than 100,000 of those customers. They hope to have everybodys power back on by tomorrow night. The feeling among many is the bay area dodged a bullet here. Reporter it is a big relief, tonight there was a update, a say in some places the wind gusts were 89 Miles Per Hour and the inspectors did find places where trees blew into power lines and they say they could have sparked fires. Moonlight on monday night was the only bright spot in parts of lafayette. We do not have a generator, we were modestly prepared. Reporter some residents will be spending another night in the dark as pg e tries to bring grades back online safely after the shut off. All day traffic lights were not operating and businesses had
Much out. For many in the bay area, this is what they woke up to this money, if there wasnt a downed tree, many found leaves and branches scattered all over the ground, on the left, a tree fell on Market Street in san jose, damaged some Electrical Equipment and knocked out power, in the middle, those strong winds knocked a tree on 103rd avenue in oakland, it also took out power lines. On the right, city crews were busy cleaning up a downed tree in san leandro this morning. In orinda, we saw downtown banks and businesses in the dark this afternoon, the neighboring cities of moraga and lafayette were also affected, pg e turned off power in a large part of the east bay holes and contra costa and alameda counties today, including parts of berkeley, oakland, and san leandro. Seeing there in that fire zone . Yeah, the winds are still blowing in that area. 25 to 35 Miles Per Hour or so, with gusts perhaps reaching even a little stronger than that, and that northeast wind is creating very dry conditions. Were talking about single digit relative humidity. Giving you a look at Storm Tracker two, where we have, over the course of the last 24 hours or so, watch that northeast wind ramp up, come through the bay area, and its still out there. The wind advisory allowed to expire earlier today, but if we get into years of the north bay, you know see relative humidity is down to 5 in many areas, including sassoon and the vacaville area. Taking a look at the big rock area, we have 7 relative humidity here, and into the Oakland Hills, relative humidity here between 5 and 10 as well. So while the winds have eased up, still very breezy in some areas, and we continue with the red flag warning because of those very dry conditions. I want to point you over towards santa cruz
