Unsure of what to do with unused or expired prescription drugs, residents in the Mid-Ohio Valley can drop them off at various locations as part of the National Take-Back Day program on Saturday. The day aims to provide a safe, convenient and responsible means of disposing of prescription drugs while also educating the public about the potential for abuse of medications.
Washington County Deputy Sheriff Duane Painter said residents can bring anything from insulin needles, pills and medication patches. Liquid medications will not be accepted and COVID protocols must be used at the locations.
Materials must be provided in a bag, but Painter said volunteers will bag the items if residents are unable to provide one.

The arrest of a Vincent man last week for receiving stolen catalytic converters isn’t the first report of people stealing these car parts.
Recent reports have shown thefts in areas including Adams Township, Barlow, New Matamoras and Marietta.
Car and Driver noted in December that police departments have been reporting a general swell of catalytic converter thefts which require but a few minutes and a pipe cutter that typically hit repair shops and businesses with non garaged fleets.
The converters are part of the car’s exhaust system and make harmful compounds, such as carbon monoxide and nitrogen gas, less harmful. They also reduce overall exhaust emissions.
