Arianne Bauer hung on every word as she sat at the end of the front row of seats during the Longhorn Theatre Companyâs 2021 edition of its annual Senior-Directed One-Act Plays on Thursday night, May 6.
The Payson High School senior couldnât relax as she internally acted out every line during the premiere of the one-act play she directed âThe Fourth Wall,â in the PHS Studio Theatre.
She mouthed the lines and gestured to actors. Bauer also took part, playing the role of an audience member berated by a cast member after her cellphone rang multiple times.
The crowd of 57 spectators thought they were witnessing an actual spur-of-the-moment outburst by an actor directed at a disruptive member of the audience.
The Longhorn Theatre Company will present their senior capstone projects this week.
The annual senior-directed one-act plays will take place at 7 p.m. on Thursday, May 6 and Saturday, May 8 and at 4:30 p.m., Friday, May 7 in the high school studio theatre, also known as the Black Box Theatre. This is the pale pea-green metal building directly behind the auditorium. The audience door is on the northeast corner. Rope lights and decorations will be set out to guide the way.
PHS senior Cameron Middaugh is directing âMidnight at Worldâs End Cafe,â by Gabriella Miyares. It is about a diner in limbo-land where special agents help normal folks decide their fate.
