Hundreds of current and former Chicago police officers took part in the solemn St. Jude Police League Memorial March on Sunday to recognize their fellow.
Families of Chicago Police officers killed in the line of duty share a painful bond, and on Tuesday night, the city honored their sacrifices at a ceremony at Soldier Field.
“There’s no greater love than this, that I would lay down my life for a friend. They gave their lives in protection of the residents of the city of Chicago,” Chicago Police Supt. David Brown said.
French, who was 29 when she was killed, had been working for the Chicago Police Department since April 2018. She was part of a community safety team tasked with patrolling dangerous neighborhoods.
