While in that role, the university announced its first endowed professorship, saw an increase in its student retention rates and expanded its hydroponics and aquaponics program. She is also a Fulbright Scholar and a fellow of the American Society of Agronomy and the Crop Science Society of America. UW Regent Scott Beightol, who chaired the committee that conducted the search and screen process, said Gallo s experience stood out as extraordinarily impressive.
