Replay Video Skip Ad Three Ottawa-area musicians are among the first to receive a career boost from Birdsong Foundation, a charity that helps give voice to artists who struggle with mental illness or substance abuse. “It’s like seeing your own child in the eyes of others,” said Margaret Konopacki, a entertainment and music publicist who started Birdsong two years ago after the death of her son, David Martin. Martin was a talented musician who struggled with paranoia, psychosis and drug use.
