Amazon Studios has brought on board Greg Coleman as its global head of franchise marketing, where he will be tasked with overseeing the team in charge of TV and film fantasy and sci-fi originals including the upcoming “Lord of the Rings” series.
In leading Amazon’s genre-focused marketing, Coleman and his team will look to engage mass audiences across the world via the streaming studio’s marketing campaigns and support global expansion of the fantasy and sci-fi brands in its portfolio.

Donald Glover has signed an eight-figure overall deal with Amazon Studios, sources tell
Variety, marking an exit from his current deal with Disney’s FX. His brother Stephen Glover, a collaborator in writing and producing FX’s “Atlanta,” has also inked an overall with the studio.
As part of the agreement, Donald Glover’s work will be highlighted with a curated content portal on the Prime Video service, according to a person familiar with the deal.

Sources also say that Malia Obama is joining the writers’ room of a Glover project at the streaming service’s studio, a mini-room for a Janine Nabers project about a “Beyonce-like figure.” Nabers is known for her work on “Watchmen,” “Away,” and “Girlfriends’ Guide to Divorce.”

Amazon Studios has restructured its television development team under studio chief Jennifer Salke.
Amazon is reforming its TV development to focus on three areas: development, series and IP/talent management.
Marc Resteghini, who led drama development, will now be in charge of all series development globally, adding comedy, genre, animation and unscripted under his purview. Laura Lancaster has also joined the studio from Alcon and will serve as head of series; she ll be in charge of guiding returning series through their life cycle. Kara Smith will take over Resteghini s old role as head of drama. Resteghini and Lancaster will both report to Albert Cheng and Vernon Sanders, Amazon s co-heads of television.

Amazon Studios is expanding and restructuring its executive leadership team, bringing on board Laura Lancaster as head of series and upping Marc Resteghini to head of development in both the U.S. and globally. They will report to co-heads of television Vernon Sanders and Albert Cheng.
The move comes as the studio organizes its leadership team to focus on three areas: development, series, and IP and talent management. Resteghini, most recently head of drama, will now oversee those leading the studio’s drama, genre, comedy, animation and unscripted projects from concept through end of Season 1.
