The state police were on high alert in view of a Bharat bandh called by the CPI (Maoists) on Friday. They were also extra cautious after the Maoists blew up railway tracks in West Singhbhum district on Thursday night. Police carried out area-domination exercises in sensitive pockets of the state to prevent the rebels from committing violence.

Wildlife authorities express concern over the fate of tigers as the Maoists have removed several camera traps to avoid detection. The Maoist influence in the sanctuary has spread to almost 50% of the area. The collation of state-wide census data may not include Sunabeda, impacting the availability of tiger movement information.
