North Louth based volunteers on the Clean Coasts programme were named Ocean Heroes this week.
Clean Coasts are recognising the work of some outstanding coastal volunteer groups across Ireland through their Ocean Hero Recognition Awards. Each year, these awards honour the invaluable contribution Clean Coasts volunteers, groups and communities have made towards conserving our spectacular coastline.
There are two groups from County Louth being recognised, Cooley Community Alert under the Against the Odds category and Joan Conaghy in the Dedicated Individuals category. Michael Muckian from Cooley Community Alert says, we are passionate about cleaning the coast as it is one of or most important natural resources and we owe it to the next generation to supply them something to cherish .
