The Railway Museum of San Angelo is on track for a big day Saturday, May 15. The first-ever Railway Days Festival will fill the surrounding area with food, fun, entertainment, history and pop-up booths from 10 a.m.-4 p.m.
The museum was honored this year by the Texas Historical Commission for significant contributions to historical preservation, education and community outreach. According to Board of Directors president Suzanna Valenzuela, the Railway Days Festival continues that trend by displaying the historic train depot to the public. Saturday is also Goodfellow Appreciation Day, and all members of the military get into the museum for Living History tours for free.
Angelo State University s Big Band performs live jazz music outside the Porter Henderson Library.
The Student Life Office at Angelo State University, in collaboration with the Risk Management Department, Multicultural Center and Chartwells Food Services, planned an Earth Day celebration for the student body through community service programs outside between the Houston Harte University Center and Porter Henderson Library on April 22. Angelo State University’s Big Band, a component of the Jazz Ensembles program, also scheduled a performance on Earth Day at the same location. Neither group was aware of the double-booked date until the beginning of April, after which they began to cooperate.
Angelo State University updated their main university website on Sunday, Dec. 6. The university made the renovated website available to the public the following day on Dec. 7.
The new website features many photos of ASU activities and friendly faces that would be familiar to anyone who regularly spends time on campus or in the ASU community.
Opening the website, viewers are greeted with a screen-sized photo of students celebrating at the Blue & Gold Party, an ASU tradition that takes place during Homecoming Week each year. Students, clad in white t-shirts, throw a cloud of blue and gold powder into the air, screaming and dancing as it rains down and colors the campus green in the colors of the Ram Fam.
