The rally began from Khwairamband Keithel and was carried out towards Chief Minister`s bungalow along Bir Tikendrajit Riad by carrying banners with slogans demanding the implementation of NRC in the State.
The seven student bodies, in a memorandum submitted to PM Modi, highlighted that the Inner Line Permit System (ILPS) is not that impactful as the definition of inhabitant is not defined.
Study materials were distributed to students belonging to the underprivileged families and wheelchairs and hearing aids were also distributed to the specially abled persons, MSF stated in a release.
Student bodies included the Democratic Students Alliance of Manipur (DESAM), All Manipur Students Union (AMSU), Apunba Ireipaki Maheiroi Sinpanglup (AIMS), Students Union of Kangleipak (SUK), Kangleipak Students Association (KSA) and Manipuri Students Federation (MSF).
Six student bodies of Manipur, including AMSU, MSF, DESAM, KSA, SUK and AIMS, have sought support from every section of society to unanimously fight against the Armed Forces Special Powers Act (AFSPA) 1958 until it is completely repealed.
