Denying reports of 23 members of poll strategist Prashant Kishor’s IPAC (Indian Political Action Committee) allegedly being stopped from leaving their hotel in Agartala, Tripura police on Monday said that they are under ‘quarantine’, not house arrest. Officials added that they were waiting for the results of the IPAC workers Covid RTPCR test following which the latter will be released.
The IPAC team members have been reportedly held under house arrest at their hotel Woodland Park since late Sunday night. The hotel is situated in Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Dev’s Banamalipur constituency.

The police have not given any official reason for the detention. However, according to Manik Das, Superintendent of Police West Tripura, the team was in the state for some research-related work .

AGARTALA: Tripura Police detained a team of 23 members of election analyst Prashant Kishor s I-PAC at Hotel Woodland Park in Agartala on Monday, Tripura, sources said. They are being interrogated and have been warned by Police not to leave the hotel except for going to the airport to leave the state, Sources told ANI.

However, as per reports, the team has been put under quarantine and not house arrest. Results of their (I-PAC members) RTPCR test will come on Tuesday. They said they were here for some research-related work that is being investigated. After getting COVID-19 test results and outcome of the probe, a decision will be taken on their release, ANI quoted Manik Das, Superintendent of Police (SP) West Tripura, as saying.
