Lt. Col. Dr Manaf Al Qahtani said the vaccines had also proved their efficacies against various virus mutations. “The jabs effectively raised immunity and reduced the severity of symptoms in the event of viral infections,” said the Infectious Disease Consultant & Microbiologist at the BDF Hospital. Dr Manaf Al Qahtani is also a member of the National Medical Taskforce for Combating the Coronavirus (COVID-19). He also pointed out that with over 70% of the eligible population receiving at least a dose of the vaccination, Bahrain has also become a world-leader in vaccination efforts.

Health Ministry Undersecretary Dr Waleed Khalifa Al Manea highlighted the success of the Kingdom’s efforts to contain the spread of the virus during yesterday’s press conference organised by the National Taskforce for Combating the Coronavirus (COVID-19). Dr Al Manea, a task force member, noted that the Kingdom has one of the highest vaccination rates in the world today. The task force emphasised that the procedures put in place for arriving travellers from certain destinations to provide a PCR (Polymerase chain reaction) certificate will support mitigating the spread of COVID-19 and will ensure the safety of citizens and residents.

They stressed that the best way to prevent the spread of the virus is by following all health and precautionary measures such as wearing face masks, observing social distancing, limiting family gatherings, avoiding large crowds, and getting vaccinated. After all, this commitment to the precautionary measures is everybody’s responsibility to keep everyone and the community safe.
