I have had a fantastic time with judy out in the battlefield. She is a wellestablished scholar. She has published a number of books and articles. The book that has probably gotten the most acclaim is entitled civil war, sisterhood, and womens politics in transition. And just recently, she has assumed the editorship of the journal of the civil war era. It is a fantastic journal out of penn state, also published by the university of North Carolina press, and certainly worth your attention. Our second panelist, just to the left, is sarah gardner. Sarah is professor of history and director of southern studies at Mercer University in georgia, where she teaches cultural and intellectual history of the 18th and 19th century american south.
