Synopsis
TRS Lok Sabha MP Maloth Kavitha and her associate were on Saturday convicted by the special sessions court for MP & MLA cases at Nampally. The judge sentenced the two to undergo six-month imprisonment. The judge, however, granted them bail to file an appeal before a higher court. Kavitha represents Mahabubabad constituency in the Lok Sabha.
This is the third case in recent times the special sessions court for MP & MLA cases handed out jail terms to public representatives.

The sitting member of the Lok Sabha is the second accused in the case.
A local court on Saturday sentenced TRS MP from Mahabubabad in Telangana, Maloth Kavitha, to six months imprisonment on charges of bribing voters during the 2019 Lok Sabha elections.
The court for the trial of cases related to MPs/MLAs in Hyderabad also slapped a fine of 10,000 rupees (Dh493) on her.
She is the second accused in the case.
The case, which relates to a party worker distributing money, seeking votes in her favour, was registered with Burgampahad police in Bhadradri-Kothagudem district following a complaint by election officials, police said.

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) officers have arrested three individuals who were taking money from gullible people at TRS MP Maloth Kavitha’s official residence claiming to be her Personal Assistants (PAs). One of them has been identified as the MP’s driver. While the MP said one of them was her driver, she also said that she did not know the other two. She also refused to comment any further on the matter.
The trio is said to have demanded Rs 5 lakhs from a landlord in Delhi for allegedly constructing the house illegally. CBI officials arrested Rajiv Bhattacharya, Subhangigupta and Durgesh Kumar after the landlord, Manmit Singh Lamba filed a complaint against them.

Hyderabad, Jan 6 : The Hyderabad police on Wednesday arrested Andhra Pradesh ex-minister Bhooma Akhila Priya for the kidnapping of former badminton player Praveen Rao and his two brothers in a land dispute.
The Telugu Desam Party (TDP) leader was arrested from her residence in Kukatpally hours after the victims were released by the kidnappers on the city outskirts after they were left with no escape route.
