surrounding the shooting. jay gray has our record. you don t expect it here. you don t. you always have the safe sense ofothing s going to happen while you re at home. reporter: late yesterday that home was ripped apart. i saw blood. i saw a guy pretty much get st in his chest. leg. reporter: a firestorm of bullets rained down on dozens of soldiers, at least 13 were killed. a few of those victims are now being identified. 21-year-old michael pearson of illinois. 29-year-old amy kruger from wisconsin and 56-year-old john gaffney from california. 30 others were injured and rushed to area hospitals. there was no region of the body in which there was not an injury in these patients. we had gun shot wounds to the head, neck, chest, abdomen and extremities. reporter: army investigators say the most deadly attack ever on a u.s. military post was carried out by one of their own, major nidal malik hasan. i tell you candidly this was a kick in the gut for our entire army.
