isn t that interesting. it s so cool. tonight, donald trump reacted to the new charges, saying, quote, it s election interference at the highest level. they re harassing my company, the harassing my family, they re harassing me. the latest charges come under the very same day the grand jury investigating trump s possible involvement in 2020 election interference met in the sea. so far there have been no indictments in that case. and just as that was happening, two of donald trump s lawyers were meeting with special counselor jack smith s office. with that, let s get smarter with the help of our leadoff panel. we brought in a great one. and a big one. peter baker, chief white house correspondent for the new york times, you know him as theo s dad. katie benner, pulitzer prize-winning justice department reporter, also with the new york times. former new york prosecutors civil rights attorney charles coleman, and former u.s. attorney joyce vance, who spent 25 years as a federal prosecu
indictment, they don t appear to be cooperating. so someone else is overheard a cooperation. the head of i.t. there as likely cooperated because he is the guy they kept coming into saying, can you delete the server? can you get rid of the server that has all the video surveillance and he saying i don t think i have the industry rights to do that. you have to go above my head. it s a look he s talking and go to bedminster, new jersey and trump has been claiming all along, hey, that document you hear in the audio clip, there is no document. well, somebody has told the special counsel, oh no, that was a document. that jumps out to me as an investigator, saying they have developed human sources. katie, what s on your mind? i ve been thinking about how this document feels responsive to some of trump s public statements. this department is not
benchmark for everything. why? and they should. could i because their primary focus is really the election and getting past the primary season where he s prism the nominee and then be able to bring new life into this theory of election interference. you heard him keep it alive, but it becomes much more real if he s actually the nominee. and, at that point, if that date gets pushed forward they have a different argument to make. and they can really engage that notion of delight. making trump s real defense team the republican party. he needs them to back him and making him that nominee. peter, explain this to us. the political impact of the election interference case. how is that different from the impact of the documents case? isn t? well, on the surface, you would say yeah, you would think it would be. because the classified document case, as important as it is, paled by comparison of the idea that we re charging with overturning the election, right? i m trying to defraud th
can we get the surveillance videos destroyed? can we make sure they don t fall into doj s hands? so we now have the substance substantive apt followed by this obstruction of justice, the attempt to conceal it, it s a very compelling presentation on top of what was already a very strong indictment. frank, what s on your mind tonight? it s clear to me that there are multiple cooperators here now, and it s cluster career. i count just by reading between the lines here, at least two or three just in the superseding indictments. trump employees four and five wanted both of them is clearly occupied cooperating. why do i say that? because as you read through the 60 pages, you actually understand content of conversations, the phone conversations between two people. texas between two people. often those two people are charged in the superseding
