The Karnataka police is on a high alert in Bidar district and security around the Mahmud Gawan madrasa and Masjid has been tightened. Photos and videos of the incident have gone viral on social media.
Karnataka Home Minister Araga Jnanendra on Friday said that a misunderstanding that had cropped up between two groups resulted in the incident at madrassa in Bidra during Dusshera festivities, following which four persons have been taken into custody
The photos and video show a big group standing on the steps of the monument. The police have lodged nine cases in connection with the incident. Protesting against the incidents, the Muslim organisations demanded action against the accused and had warned of a huge protest after Friday prayers. A mob barged into Mohammed Gawan Madrasa, a mosque situated inside the heritage site in Karnataka's Bidar, by breaking open the locked gate, following which the police has cracked down and filed cases against nine people.
