Amid COVID-19, mobile van by Jaipur Foot USA to offer artificial limb fitments
NEW YORK, July 12: Amid the COVID-19 pandemic, Jaipur Foot USA is making efforts to provide free artificial limb fitments to differently-abled people through a specially-designed mobile van that will soon offer fitments in districts in Gujarat.
Jaipur Foot USA Chairman Prem Bhandari said that the fully-equipped mobile van that will soon hit the road will have three technicians and experts who will be able to carry out 8-10 artificial limb fitments daily.
The initiative was kicked-off by Minister of State for External Affairs V Muraleedharan in New York on Saturday.

A 40-day ‘Artificial Limbs Fitment Camp’ which launched mid-November has put cheery smiles on faces of many Ugandans living with physical disabilities.
So far 140 persons with disabilities in Uganda have been fitted with artificial limbs designed to specification by Indian doctors at the camp organized by the government of India. The camp is an Indian government initiative aimed at addressing the sufferings of handicaps all over the world.
The initiative is titled; ‘Artificial Limbs Fitment Camp’ under “India for Humanity” mission and it is meant to commemorate the 150th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi and to honour Mahatma Gandhi’s services to humanity, his philosophy of compassion and caring.
