All class 10 students to be promoted
Results to be announced on the basis of internal marks obtained in class 9 and 10th
Mumbai: The Maharashtra government on Friday (May 28) announced the evaluation criteria for the state board students of Class 10, the examinations of which have been cancelled this year due to the coronavirus pandemic.
State School Education Minister Varsha Gaikwad said all students who were to appear for Class 10 (Secondary School Certificate- SSC) exams will be promoted, and marks will be given on the basis of the internal assessment of their performance this year and that of Class 9.
Addressing a press conference, she said the results will be declared by June end. The Class 10 exams, scheduled in March this year, were cancelled due to the pandemic.

Amid a surge in Covid-19 cases across the state, Maharashtra Education Department is mulling over the postponement of the upcoming board exams. The education department officials are finalizing a plan for the upcoming board exams which includes a proposal to postpone it. The probability of board exams getting postponed is high as the cases of coronavirus in the state is increasing rapidly.
Maharashtra s school education minister Varsha Gaikwad told TOI, âI canât say anything at this moment but, yes, a final decision will be taken this week itself. I will meet with various stakeholders and see what their views are about exams. Then we will have to seek the consent from chief ministerâs office (CMO) as well regarding the final proposal.â
