There seems to be no end to the Maharashtra political crisis as the MVA government stayed shaky on Thurssday. Eknath Shinde hit back at the Shiv Sena after the party on Thursday wrote to the Maharashtra Assembly deputy speaker seeking the disqualification of 12 rebel MLAs.

Now, Shiv Sena's rebel MLA Eknath Shinde seems to have raked in the support of two-thirds of the party's MLAs. On Thursday night, he wrote to the Deputy Speaker of Maharashtra Assembly Narhari Zirwal asserting his appointment as the leader of the Shiv Sena Legislature Party. Shinde now has the support of 47 MLAs, including 37 from the Sena, while CM Uddhav Thackeray has the support of only 13-17 MLAs. Assam Congress chief Bhupen Bora also wrote a letter to Shinde telling him that their presence at such a critical juncture has defamed the state. Congress leaders were not allowed to enter the hotel and a police official deployed there was requested to hand over the letter to the Sena leader.
Maharashtra political crisis: After the Shiv Sena sought disqualification of 16 rebel MLAs, all eyes are on Deputy Speaker Narhari Zirwal. The Maharashtra Assembly doesn't have a Speaker at present.
