Noida: Street crimes are increasingly becoming a worry in the bustling 7x sectors, which have developed into one of the city’s prime residential locations because of the large number of housing societies there and proximity to metro’s Aqua Line.
Residents have reported several incidents of snatching, a concern that they are also now raising on social media. Multiple incidents of snatching, around eight, have been reported outside the gates of housing societies like Prateek Wisteria, Mahagun Moderne, Gardenia Gateway and Sethi Max Royal over the past few months. Four instances of mobile snatching have come in close succession, over the past month or so. These have also been captured on CCTV cameras installed outside the main gates of the societies.
Noida: The words ‘weekly market’ conjure up images of jostling crowds in the mind of most people living in the NCR. The ‘Wednesday market’ in Sector 78 used to be like any other weekly market in the region – streets packed with vendors, vehicles and shoppers. Not any longer.
Vendors and residents of Sector 78 have come together to create a model weekly market with the help of the Noida Authority.
They said the vegetable and fruit market in Sector 78 that used to operate from the main road only on Wednesdays, caused inconvenience to many. The vendors would be sitting in all directions with no space for the movement of vehicles, they complained.

NOIDA: The Noida Authority on Monday allowed private developers to pay lease rent dues in instalments. The move will help around 30,000 homebuyers who are waiting to get their properties registered.
According to a rough estimate, there are close to 50 highrise projects in the city where around 30,000 buyers have not been able to register their flats because the developers have not cleared dues of the Authority. A number of these buyers had approached the UP government, urging it to find a solution.
The decision to allow builders to pay in instalments was taken at the board meeting of the Authority. It, however, comes with a few riders. For instance, builders will be considered for the instalment scheme only if they have cleared the land premium. They will also have to pay the prevailing interest rate being charged by the Authority.

NOIDA: When the Covid-induced lockdown led to factories closing and lakhs of migrant workers who had lost their jobs leaving cities in desperation, it was a massive humanitarian crisis that unfolded. But the adversity also brought out the best in humanity. In Noida, a movement started. It was by the people, and for the people. In April and May, the streets of Delhi-NCR witnessed the heart-rending sights of migrant workers setting out for their homes hundreds of kilometres away on foot, baggage and children in tow.
As the government scrambled to arrange transport, camps were set up to house the thousands who were walking. But with wave after wave of reverse migration, there were thousands still on roads, walking down expressways and hitching rides with whoever they could to get home. Other than shielding from the virus, finding food was the other big challenge.
