STAFF REPORTER GUWAHATI: The All Assam Engineers Association (AAEA) appealed to ULFA-I commander-in-chief Paresh Baruah to release the two abducted engineers – Pranab Kumar Gogoi and Ram Kumar. Urging the ULFA commander-in-chief in a statement, AAEA president Kailash Sarma said, We appeal to you to release the two engineers who were abducted by the ULFA-I and the NSCN(K). Sarma appealed to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal to take appropriate steps for the immediate safe release of the two engineers.

The scheme is being funded by the World Bank. The scheme will be implemented by the Directorate of Inland Water Transport in coordination with the Assam Inland Water Transport Development Society (AIWTDS). The prime objective of the scheme is to work out a hi-tech mechanism to monitor and regulate sailing of country boats.
