Two Hefajat leaders were placed on different terms of remand today in two separate cases filed with Motijheel and Paltan police stations over the 2013 mayhem in the capital s Shapla Chatter and Paltan areas.
The leaders are former Assistant Organising Secretary of Hefajat Mufti Shakhawat Hossain Razi and former Assistant Secretary General Maulana Monzurul Islam Afendi.
Both Shakhawat and Monzurul were placed on three-day remand each, in a case filed by Paltan Police Station over the 2013 mayhem.
Meanwhile, Shakhawat was also placed on a three-day remand in another case filed with Motijheel Police Station over the same offence.

A Dhaka court today placed two top leaders of Hefajat-e-Islam on a seven-day remand each in a case filed with Paltan Police Station over the 2013 mayhem in Dhaka.
The two leaders are: Dhaka City unit President Maulana Zunayed Al Habib and Assistant Secretary General Maulana Jalaluddin Ahmed.
Maulana Zunayed is also the joint secretary general of Hefajat, a Qawmi madrasa-based Islamist organisation.
Metropolitan Magistrate Md Shahinur Rahman passed the order after Md Kamrul Hassan Talukder, an inspector of Detective Branch of Police and also the investigation officer of the case, produced them before the court with a 10-day remand prayer.

A Dhaka court today cleared Mohammad Erfan Salim, son of Awami League leader and lawmaker Haji Mohammad Salim, in a narcotics case as police did not find any evidence to prove the charges against him and prosecution did not seek further investigation.
Metropolitan Magistrate Md Shahinur Rahman passed the order after a short hearing on the probe report that cleared Erfan, a suspended ward councillor.
