Another Person Charged in Connection with Jervis Diamond Shooting

Feb 19, 2021 Calvert Humes A fisherman is spending his first night on remand at the Belize Central Prison on a charge of Abetment to Commit Attempted Murder for a shooting that occurred in January that left a man hospitalized for several days.  Calvert Humes of Belize City was arraigned before Magistrate Stephanie Gillett today.  He was formally read the charge for the January twenty-sixth, 2021 shooting of Jervis Diamond.  Humes is accused of facilitating the accused shooter, Kareem Tillett by providing the weapon that was purportedly used to carry out the crime.  Tillett was charged on February first with Attempted Murder, Dangerous Harm, and Use of Deadly Means of Harm.  Police said that the motive of the shooting was internal fighting within a group of persons in that area.  In court today, Magistrate Gillett remanded Humes until April thirtieth, when his case will be called again, at which time he can apply for bail at the Magistrate’s Court. Conrad Daniel After being arrested, charged, and arraigned for breaking curfew, 75-year-old Conrad Williams Young Daniel was lucky to leave the courtroom with simply a warning. He was charged with breach of curfew after being found on his way home after 8:00 p.m. one night. For this charge, the fisherman appeared before Magistrate Stephanie Gillett where he pleaded guilty. He explained that he had just visited his daughter near Wesley College in Belize City and was making his way to his home on Waight Street and had not noticed the time. He says that he did not make it home until a few minutes after 8:00 p.m. before he was met by the police.
