An air of gloom hung over Kasapurvi village in Etah district, one of the worst affected by the accident that took place in Kasganj district on Saturday. At least 10 people who died were from this village. Fourteen others were residents of three neighbouring villages- Rorhi, Kheriya and Banar, under the jurisdiction of Jaithara police station in Kasganj.
Kashi witnessed fervent celebrations on Saturday for the 647th birth anniversary of Sant Ravidas, held at his birthplace in Seer Goverdhanpur. Devotees offered prayers at the Sant Ravidas Temple and joined the langar (community meal). Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated a newly-installed statue of Sant Ravidas. Chief minister Yogi Adityanath also graced the occasion. Hindu devotees took the holy dip in the Ganga on the auspicious occasion of Magh Purnima.
