🥎 Jayhawks Shock No 23 Shockers in 5-2 Upset

LAWRENCE, Kan. – Following a complete-game performance in the circle from Kasey Hamilton and two RBIs from Morgyn Wynne and Ashlyn Anderson, Kansas softball upsets No. 23 Wichita State, 5-2, on Wednesday night at Arrocha Ballpark. With tonight’s victory, the Jayhawks improve to 22-17 on the season as the Shockers fall to 32-6-1. In the 7.0 innings Hamilton pitched, she struck out a career-high nine batters and only gave up one walk. She improves to 5-7 on the season. The Jayhawks got runners on early in the bottom of the first with Brittany Jackson hitting a single and Macy Omli getting hit by a pitch to put two on with no outs. Morgyn Wynne advanced them into scoring position allowing Shelby Gayre to record a sac fly to score Jackson. Ashlyn Anderson continued the scoring action with an RBI single to score Omli and give KU a 2-0 lead.

🥎 Kansas Hosts Texas Tech for Big 12 Series

LAWRENCE, Kan. – The Kansas softball team returns home to host Big 12 foe, Texas Tech, in a three-game series beginning on Friday, April 16 at 6 p.m. Action will continue on Saturday, April 17 at 2 p.m. before concluding on Sunday, April 18 at noon. The Jayhawks are coming off a 4-3 upset win at No. 18 Missouri on April 13. With the win, KU improves to 20-15 on the season. Kansas is taking a 1-5 Big 12 record into the TTU series. The Red Raiders are 16-19 overall and 0-9 in Big 12 play. The last time the Jayhawks and the Red Raiders met was at the Big 12 Tournament on May 10, 2019 in Oklahoma City. TTU captured a 7-3 victory on the neutral field. During the game, KU’s Brittany Jackson and Morgyn Wynne each tabbed a hit. Wynne also added a RBI and scored a run.

🥎 Gayre, Anderson Homer as Kansas Clinches Series over Roos

LAWRENCE, Kan. – Redshirt junior Shelby Gayre and sophomore Ashlyn Anderson hit home runs and Angela Price recorded her first-career hit as the Jayhawks claimed a 7-3 victory over Kansas City on Saturday. The afternoon win secured the series for KU over the Roos. Following the victory, Kansas improves to 19-15 on the year as Kansas City falls to 18-15. KU’s Hailey Reed picked up the win in the circle improving to 6-2 this season after pitching 4.0 innings with three strikeouts. Kansas’ Kasey Hamilton pitched 2.2 innings of relief to earn her first save. The Jayhawks were fighting from behind after Kansas City scored one in the first inning.

🥎 Jayhawks Split Action with Kansas City

LAWRENCE, Kan. – Redshirt junior Sydnee Ramsey and junior Morgyn Wynne each finished the night with two home runs as Kansas softball split doubleheader action against Kansas City on Friday, April 9. The Jayhawks took game one, 11-6, before dropping the evening clash, 8-6. With the results today, the Jayhawks move to 18-15 on the year as the Roos are 18-14. On the day, Kansas finished with 18 hits and 17 RBIs between the two games. The Jayhawks were led by Ramsey and Cheyenne Hornbuckle tallying three hits. Wynne led the team with five RBIs to move her season total to 41. Game One – Won 11-6
