The Macoupin County Treasurer is considering ways to ease the burden on getting property taxes paid. The county currently requires payments to be made in no more than two installments in mid-to-late summer. There is a new possibility on the horizon.
Roger Anderson, who was newly-elected to the office this spring, had been considering a four-payment plan similar to the one in Madison County. But he tells The Big Z there is another option that may be even more friendly to property owners.

He says it’s probably too late to implement it for this tax cycle, as bills will be mailed out withing the next 30 days.

CARLINVILLE Macoupin County residents can now pay property taxes in four installments instead of two.
“It will be more affordable for taxpayers to have four installments instead of two, and in my opinion, reduce delinquencies and additional fees,” said Madison County Treasurer Roger Anderson. “Also, having four installments for our taxpayers will also be compatible for our schools in Macoupin County.”
Anderson was sworn in as the Macoupin County Treasurer on April 1. A sixth-generation farmer, he also owns Anderson Insurance Company.
“I wanted to pursue the treasurer’s position to help and work for the taxpayers of this county,” said Anderson. “My job is to serve the taxpayers of this county and maintain the transparency of the office.”
