So I watched a movie: ‘Godmothered’ is uplifting holiday fun without being a ‘Christmas movie’ [Siskiyou Daily News, Yreka, Calif.]
Dec. 25 If you’re like me, sometimes you enjoy holiday movies that aren’t specifically holiday related, such as Joe Dante’s “Gremlins,” or the cult classic “Die Hard.” although there is quite the argument being made for both being considered classic Christmas movies.
If you are feeling an uplifting film this holiday that doesn’t necessarily focus on finding the Christmas spirit, I would recommend you check out Disney’s “Godmothered,” a lighthearted comedy that attempts to change the classic Disney meaning of “happily ever after.”
It s So Damn Refreshing to See Children s Movies Prioritizing Familial Love Over Romantic Love 64 Shares
When Anna turned from Kristoff the perfect guy, c mon! to save her sister instead, I cheered in the middle of the movie theater, where I was watching
Frozen for the first time in 2013. Later, I wrote a grad school essay about how Elsa was the best independent Disney princess role model (she doesn t need a man to be happy!). As someone with two amazing sisters and three great brothers, I m a huge proponent of movies that show familial love. After all, I ve pretty much always gotten along with my siblings, and we are closer than ever now that we are all grown up.

Fairy godmothers have lost their place in the world. There are very few new recruits, but Eleanor (Jillian Bell) still dreams of joining their ranks. Still, godmother classes have not been kind to her youthful exuberance, and the requests for the service of fairy godmothers everywhere have been waning. When Eleanor discovers the request of a 10-year-old girl, she takes the initiative and heads to America from the Motherland (home of the godmothers) in an attempt to prove her worth.
