Christian Fiscal Court approve first reading of 2021-22 budget

The Christian County Fiscal Court met Tuesday morning for a regular meeting to vote on the first reading of the Fiscal Year 2021-22 Budget as well as approve a Fiscal Year 2020-21 budget amendment and a rural and secondary road fund request from the state to resurface several county roads. Judge-Executive Steve Tribble presented the budget to the court and read several highlights for the next fiscal year’s funding allocations, including increases to several funds, largely as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic. Tribble shared that the Fiscal Year 2021-22 increased by roughly $13.2 million compared to the current year’s budget. The total overall budget for the next fiscal year is proposed to be at $42,351,221.

Christian Fiscal Court met Tuesday morning for a regular meeting to approve a lease agreement to purchase several vehicles for the Christian County Sheriff’s Office, approve the renewal of the county’s health insurance plan for Fiscal Year 2021-22 as well as discuss the county’s vaccination rates. Following the Fiscal Court’s official business, Judge-Executive Steve Tribble shared with the court why he believes Christian County continues to be at the bottom of the governor’s office list for vaccination rates. Tribble shared that a report he had seen last week reflected that Christian County was at 17% vaccination rate and appeared last on the governor’s office list.

Addressing Christian Fiscal Court Tuesday morning, Judge Tribble said local leaders are trying to work with state and post officials to get those vaccinations on Fort Campbell recognized in the state system.
