anthony mason is on the floor of the new york stock exchange tonight to tell us why investors are dumping stock. anthony? reporter: scott, nearly 700 points has been knocked off the dow over the last two days, but this has been a global blood bath. the sentiment here and everywhere just seems to be sell. around the world, investors headed for the exits amid rising fears of a global recession. you know, it s bad news after bad news. we re not getting any good news. reporter: on wall street, the markets were still reeling from the federal reserve s gloomy prognosis yesterday, when it warned of significant down side risks to the economy. to traders, it was significant that stood out. that s just one word. that s it. and when we get a statement like that, every single word is dissected. reporter: floor trader jonathan corpina. when we see a word like significant that will dictate which way the market is going to move. reporter: and down side is where it went.
