Jones’ total score places her second on Stanford s all-time list behind another former local high school standout, Tracye Lawyer.
Lawyer, who attended Cate, is Stanford’s heptathlon record holder with 5,809 points, set at the 1998 Pac-10 Championships. She is a three-time Pac-10 winner, a NCAA champion and a former Pac-10 soccer player of the year. She scored a wind-aided 5,855 points at the 1999 NCAA Track & Field Championships.
Seeded fifth at the Pac-12 Championships, Jones was on fire on the first day of competition. She recorded a career-best first-day score of 3,504 points and tied her best long jump with a leap of 19-6.50.

Redshirt freshman Charles Hicks ran the second-fastest winning 10k time at the Pac-12 Championship in 38 years to start the Cardinal off strong on Friday, and senior Julia Heymach capped the meet with a surprise 5k victory on Sunday in an eventful weekend. Both the Stanford men and women placed in seventh at the conclusion of the meet on Sunday evening.
