Recently appointed East London port manager Siphiwe Mthembu says the looting that took place in KwaZulu-Natal last year and subsequent heavy floods there helped prepare him to deal with events that disrupted port operations.
In the final step of a major shakeup at the top of SA's ports, East London port manager Sharon Sijako has been replaced by Lwandile Mabuza. According to a Transnet National Ports Authority (TNPA), it is all “part of its (TPNA) new operating model to reposition South Africa in the global market and ensure growth and sustainability".
