fear. there are 200 mass graves. you are hreupg at what could be the tip of the iceberg. 20,000 civilians were killed, the mayor said. there is a distinct fear amongst people that graves like that could just be the beginning, especially given what we have seen, what the russians did in northern ukraine, for example, in places like bucha. in mariupol today, unfortunately, yet another day where there will not be evacuation corridors set up. we have seen just a trickle of people be able to leave over mariupol. i m here at the lviv train station where in just a little while we are expecting a train with some of the people who managed to get out of mariupol to arrive. it s a little bit delayed, but we are expecting people on that train. i can tell you officials are not nearly as many people on the train as there should be. evacuation corridors were set up and the day before. they didn t work as planned. yesterday some 200 people queued
white house. reporter: with us now from kyiv is michael bosacu, a former spokesperson for the organization, security in europe. i understand you ve just taken a train from lviv to the capital. can you give us a sense of what you saw on that trip and how safe does it feel in kyiv right now? yeah, sure. good to be with you, lynda. my goodness, the scene at the lviv train station was almost apocal apocalyptic. still a lot of people are a arriving from the east. i met a large, large group of idps which just fled, which have been heavily bombed in the east. and again, lots of women and children without men. but fortunately, there s a big humanitarian presence there on the ground, to take care of people like that. the train was delayed about three hours because of security, and then arriving here in kyiv, you really feel how militarized
