AN administrator in the estate of the late musician David Phiri, popularly known as “Daev Zambia”, has dragged XYZ Entertainment Limited to the Lusaka Magistrates’ Court seeking payment of monies so far paid to the music record label by companies that had running advertisement contracts with the deceased.
Martha Phiri, suing in her capacity as an administrator in the estate of the late musician, also wants immediate release of the record label contract signed between XYZ Entertainment Limited and the deceased.
She also wants immediate release of music projects and other contracts signed by the late David Phiri, damages caused by the defendant’s actions, costs of the action and any other relief the Court may deem fit.

FORMER Minister of Community Development and Social Services Emerine Kabanshi has told the court that she had nothing to do with the extension of the scope of coverage of a contract between Zambia Postal Services Corporation (ZAMPOST) to include three provinces and two districts under Social Cash Transfer programme.
Kabanshi has equally denied re-engaging ZAMPOST to disburse funds under the social cash transfer program after the contract was terminated.
She told the Lusaka Magistrates’ Court that the acting permanent secretary then, wrote to the post master general telling him about how the re-engagement was going to be done.

THE State has informed the Lusaka Magistrates’ Court that instructions from the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) to commit a police officer to the High Court for trial for the alleged murder of State prosecutor Nsama Nsama Chipyoka and Joseph Kaunda are not yet ready.
The matter has since been adjourned to Friday, March 5, for another mention as they await instructions from the DPP.
In this matter, Constable Fanwell Nyundu, a 25-year-old police officer of Matero Police Camp, is facing two counts of murder.
In count one, it is alleged that on December 23, 2020, Nyundu murdered Nsama Nsama Chipyoka.
