The ruling Mizo National Front (MNF) has faced a rout as it could win only 10 seats, while the main opposition ZPM bagged 27 seats in the 40-member House
As per ECI data, Baryl Vanneihsangi and Lalrinpuii of Zoram People s Movement (ZPM), and Prova Chakma of Mizo National Front (MNF) have won the elections. In the Aizawl South-III constituency, Vanneihsangi won the elections by 1,414 votes. She got 9,370 votes while her nearest rival F Lalnunmawia from MNF received 7,956 votes.
Prominent among them are Deputy Chief Minister and MNF candidate Tawnluia who lost to ZPM candidate in Tuichang, Health Minister and MNF candidate R Lalthangliana who was defeated by ZPM s Jeje Lalpekhlua in South Tuipui and Rural Development Minister Laruatkima who lost to ZPM nominee Lalnghinglova Hmar in Aizawl West II, according to the Election Commission.
