five people are dead from injuries related to a suspected tornado in woodward, oklahoma. and the kansas governor has declared a state of emergency. let s go to susan candiotti in wichita. i m wondering whether the early warnings in the region that you are in right now might have helped the situation. reporter: i can t imagine that they didn t, howie. they had to have played a huge role in that. after all, this is the first time i think since 2006 that they were able to give people who live in this region at least two days warning to be prepared for the storm. now, certainly it may have helped in many instances, but tornadoes, you know, can hit at random, but you can t help but think that it did help some people to be better prepared for the storm. weather system the weather forecasters doing their job. this is not over, and so at this point what s our information on where the greatest threats may lie in terms of other communities that might be struck by these twisters?
dozens of people were hurt. hundreds of homes were damaged, and destroyed. a live report in a hard-hit town in oklahoma is just ahead. but here is how one survivor in iowa described the storm. you know, it was no straight wind, it was a regular twister. the wind was just blasting out. the bathroom, like they always say, and while we got here, the roof went here. the good lord was with us. he sure was. it s about more than you can bear. we re glad larry hill is okay. the u.s. coast guard searching for four people missing from a yacht that ran aground during a race in san francisco. a massive wave hit the eight-person crew aboard the yaud called low-speed chase. then hit the rocks near the islands about 25 miles due west of san francisco. we re told one person died, three others were rescued. deadly attacks in the capital of afghanistan. insurgents targeted several key areas of kabul, including the embassy area. presidential palace and the parliament. the taliban claimed re

well, we re learning more details. cnn has confirmed that the incident probably happened on wednesday and they were sent back to the states on thursday. it s a grup of up to 12 members of the secret service. some of them secret service undercover agents, other uniforms police. according to the information coming out, there was an incident with a prositute that was brought into the hotel. this is a hotel, a more traditional hotel in cartagena, and it s part of the hotels that were secured for the president s visit. this happened before president obama arrived in colombia where he s standing for two nights. the first time an american president does this. there was an incident of where the prostitute complained of not being paid. she went to the police, the police reported it to the embassy and then to the state department. at least 12 members of the secret services were sent back to the states, relieved of their assignment. we re told they re not involved in president obama s
