Today will present more sunshine and nice weather, but with a couple of twists as a little disturbance moves through the area. Ahead of it, with calm winds and moisture at the surface, some patchy freezing fog will be around but should burn off fairly quickly as winds increase out of the southwest throughout the morning. As our little boundary sweeps across the area, in addition to the winds light mix will be possible in some of our northernmost counties during the midday hours. The vast majority of the viewing area though, will be mild with temperatures reaching well into the 30s to near 40 with some decent sunshine. Well see more of the same 3040 degree temperatures over the next few days including this weekend with a chance of a light mix saturday night sunday morning. A more potent system looks to move in early next week giving us some decent snow chances next monday night and tuesday which could make for an interesting caucus night groundhog day, so well have to wait and see how t

Boys volleyball: Wheaton North edges Buffalo Grove in Fremd title match

Wheaton North was looking for a springboard. And the Falcons found one Saturday at the Fremd boys volleyball tournament. Wheaton North, which had not won a tournament all season, grabbed the title hon.

Garden City Boys Lacrosse wins Woodstick Classic

The GCHS Varsity Boys Lacrosse team had two games this week, both wins with one being one of the biggest games of the year. On Wednesday, April 27, the Mepham Pirates came to play at GCHS. Garden City had the game in hand early – the Trojans were up 3-0 after two minutes of play.

Back for the ninth season at 1390 Granite City Sports with your weekly amateur baseball (Town Team) reports. Including game summaries, upcoming schedules, league standings, tournament summaries and an occasional special interest feature. The plan is to continue to include: Arrowhead West/Section 2B: Cold Spring Springers, Moorhead Brewers, Moorhead Mudcats, Hamel Hawks, Sobieski Skis, EGF Mass and Brainerd Bees, Central Valley League, Sauk Valley League, Victory League South and Stearns County, New London-Spicer and Paynesville Pirates of the County Line League teams and the Foley Lumberjacks formerly of the Sauk Valley League, now the Victory League along with Sobieski Skis, St. Stephen Steves, Avon Lakers, St. Wendel Saints, Opole Bears, Freeport Black Sox, Royalton River Dogs and Nisswa Lightning, throughout their league playoffs, regional and state tourney games.
