Trial for man accused of throwing plaster over traffic warden

A WILTSHIRE man will stand trial over allegations he threw plaster over a Swindon traffic warden. Appearing before Swindon Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday, Robert Silk, 32, of Bradenstoke, pleaded not guilty to assault by beating and criminal damage. It is alleged he threw plaster over a Swindon Borough Council traffic warden in Old Town on July 16 last year. At the time, an image of the plaster-hit warden was shared by Swindon council. Cristian Flinta, 50, was out delivering parcels in his Vauxhall Vivaro van in December 2019 when he pulled onto the pavement. Prosecutor Keith Ballinger told Swindon Magistrates’ Court a woman was walking down Norfolk Road in Harnham, near Salisbury, with her daughter. “She said at the time it was getting dark and the street lights were on. As she’s walking along the pavement a white van has mounted the pavement behind her. It has continued and she’s been struck by the nearside wing mirror,” Mr Ballinger said.

An eagle-eyed police officer caught Jake Morrish red-handed with a basket of goods from the Beechcroft Road Co-op on January 9, Swindon Magistrates’ Court heard. Further checks linked him to the theft of £225-worth of fragrance sets from Savers on December 11 and 13 and the theft of £60-worth of food from the Dorcan Way Esso on December 8. Prosecutor Emma Charleton said 25-year-old Morrish had 60 offences on his record – including 16 previous offences of theft. Defending, Luke Jameson said his client had struggled with drug and alcohol addiction. However, he was keen to work with probation and addiction services to tackle his problems.

Paedophile to be sentenced for voyeurism and indecent image charges

A PAEDOPHILE voyeur will be sentenced next month for a catalogue of sexual offences. Appearing before Swindon Magistrates’ Court John Berry, 36, now of Paignton, Devon, pleaded guilty to four counts of voyeurism and three charges of making indecent images of a child. He is said to have installed recording equipment between early 2017 and early 2018 with the intention of recording another person doing a private act. Three of the voyeurism charges relate to offences committed between 2006 and 2014 in Swindon. The indecent images are said to have been made between 2010 and 2015. Chairman of the bench Simon Wolfensohn granted Berry bail to appear at Swindon Crown Court on January 22 for sentence.

Booker, Hallett combine for 44 points in Oak Harbor boys win
