Ludhiana sees a fall in active Covid cases. (representative)
LUDHIANA: As Ludhiana has crossed the second wave, its active cases have fallen by more than 75% in the past 22 days. Health experts say these are expected to drop further in the coming days.
As per the state media bulletin, the number of active cases in Ludhiana on June 5 was 2,828. The figure was 12,832 on May 15, which is about 78% more as compared with June 5. The highest number in the second wave was recorded on May 16 (13,217 cases) and in the first wave on August 22 (3,867).
The number of active cases was 2,987 on April 7; 5,029 on April 20; and 8,839 on May 1.
LUDHIANA: Three residents of Ludhiana died of Covid-19 and 203 tested positive on Sunday.
As per the health department bulletin, six deaths were reported on the day. Of these, three patients were of Ludhiana, two of Jalandhar and one of Sangrur.
The district casualties included a 56-year-old woman of Urban Estate, a 60-year-old man of Mundian Kalan, and a 55-year-old man of Prem Vihar.
Civil surgeon Dr Kiran Ahluwalia said the district’s toll has increased to 2,029 and that of outsiders to 1,006.
To date, 14,53,544 persons have been tested. As many as 33 patients from outside Ludhiana too tested positive here on the day.
