The white house today announced a surge of spending to deal with the surge of illegal immigration. Just since october, the u. S. Has picked up 52,000 unaccompanied children crossing into the United States from mexico. Most are from central america. The u. S. Will spend 93 million to, among other things, repatriate them and help Central American countries fight the violence that is driving young people here. Anna werner begins our coverage. Reporter Border Patrol officials in texas Rio Grande Valley catch as many as 1,400 Illegal Immigrants crossing every day. The white house now plans to speed up processing by bringing in more immigration judges, moving more quickly to deport those not eligible for asylum, and expanding detention space. Situation in iraq. You know, for days now, weve been hearing one thing from this administration, that options are being discussed. We know last night the president met with top congressional leaders to discuss that. What they said came out of that meeting was basically an assessment, it wasnt as some speculated, an opportunity for the president to lay all of those options out on the table, to pick apart each one and then make a decision. It was merely an update and agreement to work with congress throughout the process. So now it seems like were about to get an announcement of something changing, something happening, possibly a decision made that would come quickly given some of the guidance we were hearing yesterday. But for some, of course, many critics out there, this is not coming quickly at all. In fact, some have been waiting for this for weeks. All right. Michele at the white house, thank you so much. We begin with the crisis in iraq. This morning, isis fighters are in control of saddam husseins weapons facility filled with dangerous materials. We are finding out new details of how the u. S. Is getting involved in the fight against isis. The president is saying no to air strikes. The military is putting final touches on plans sending hundreds of advisers into the country and offering other help without putting troops on the ground. The United States will continue to increase our support to Iraqi Security forces. We are prepared to crowite joint Operation Centers in baghdad and Northern Iraq to share intelligence and coordinating plans to confront isil. Barbara starr as more on the mission for those advisers. Twin bombs exploded in a busy market. A car bomb went off roughly around 3 00 local time. As locals had gathered to help the injured a second car bomb went off 20 minutes later.
