The first full day of summer – Monday, June 21 – was indeed a full day for Acton-Boxborough athletics. The school was a part of six MIAA playoff contests, three at home. There were undefeated teams (girls and boys tennis) and a winless one (boys volleyball). Plus a girls lacrosse team taking on one of the state’s best programs.
All this two days after the boys track team won its first sectional championship in 10 years.
“We had 3 teams all playing at 4 pm home on Monday so running around to all those was exciting,” said A-B athletic director Steve Martin in an email. (I was) getting updates from Volleyball and Baseball in extra innings all at the same time.”
