Citing the need to raise money for its mission, as well as care for its aging sisters, the religious congregation has announced plans to sell the 135-acre campus on a bluff that overlooks downtown Mankato and the Minnesota River. We have developed mutual relationships with generations of people in the Mankato area, the School Sisters said in a statement. Letting go of sacred and treasured spaces is a historic journey for us; one that we are committed to do in prayer, dialogue and collaboration.

The purchase comes after the School Sisters of Notre Dame announced their campus was for sale, which has overlooked Mankato for over 100 years. “When we learned of the Sisters’ divesting other property, one of the first things we looked to do is work with the Sisters and secure our piece up here on this historic Hill,” Loyola Catholic School Principal Adam Bemmels said.

Dec 16, 2020 MANKATO — Community Bank has awarded Loyola Catholic School $100,000 — the largest donation from a community organization the school has yet received. The funds will be used to support campus unification projects and as scholarship dollars for families. “We are all in for Loyola,” Bob Beadell, vice president of commercial lending at Community Bank, said in a press release from the school. Community Bank Mankato and the Beadell family are longtime supporters of the school and its mission. I saw this homeless guy walk in. He had no gloves on and he was trying to warm his hands up with hot water and I asked mom if we could get him some gloves,” said Chase Kijenski.
