GAMBIER More than 120 student-workers at Kenyon College picketed and marched across their college s picturesque campus here Tuesday during what organizers claim is the first known undergraduate student-labor strike in the country.
A majority of Kenyon College student workers at five on-campus workplaces last week voted in favor of an unfair labor practices strike for what they say is dissatisfaction with the college s student-work program during the pandemic.
The Kenyon Student Worker Organizing Committee, also known as K-SWOC, approved the strike Thursday because of a refusal by Kenyon s administration and the Board of Trustees’ to recognize the newly formed union.
