Expect busy city roads in the east bay this weekend as a major freeway set to shut down in just a few hours from now. Southbound 680 between the 580 and 680 connector and koopman road will be closed through monday morning. Ctvs Amanda Quintana has more on the project the crews will be working on this weekend and how you can get around it. Signs have been warning drivers in the east bay they wont be able to drive down 680 this weekend. All southbound lanes will be closed by doing a weekend closure, we are able to shrink what would otherwise be closures into one weekend. Thee highway will b shut down for about nine miles from th i5 8680 connector to koopman road, starting at 9 00 friday night to four in the morning, monday. When the roadway reopens at 4 a. M. Monday, there will be a smooth ride for motorists. We are replacing the deteriorated pavement with concrete, which lasts for a long time. There are multiple detours, but drivers will basically be forced to either take 580 to 880 or
