North Louth and Slieve Gullion councillors meet to discuss anti-social behaviour at Urnaí graveyard By Ruth O Connell Efforts are underway to tackle anti-social behaviour at a historic graveyard along the Louth/Armagh border. Stonework around Urnaí church at Dungooley has been damaged in one of the latest incidents of vandalism. Local Fine Gael councillor John Reilly met Slieve Gullion Cllr. Pete Byrne of the SDLP on the border yesterday, to discuss antisocial behaviour at the graveyard and the promotion of tourism in the local area which is part of the Ring of Gullion. The cemetery is the burial place of Gaelic poet Peadar Ó Doirnín, whose poem Mná na hÉireann, was set to an air composed by Seán Ó Riada and has been performed by Sinead O Connor and Kate Bush.

More tyres illegally dumped off the N1 near Junction 20

LMFM By Ruth O Connell Previously hundreds of tyres were dumped on the opposite side of the dual carriageway. Hundreds of used tyres have been dumped along the N1, near the Louth/Armagh border. The car and lorry tyres were dropped in piles at the lay by on the northbound carriageway, just before Junction 20 - the Jonesborough/Carrickarnon exit. This afternoon, the PSNI confirmed they had received a report about a trailer with around 1,000 used tyres on board in Newry had been stolen in the last number of weeks. Previously hundreds of tyres were dumped at the former Dromad weighbridge on the other side of the dual carriageway (see photo below).

The accused, aged 45, was remanded in custody on a money laundering charge under the Criminal Justice (Money Laundering and Terrorist Financing) Act. The accused is due to appear before Cloverhill District Court on Tuesday, January 12.
