The contribution made by the McShain family to Killarney and Kerry will never be forgotten and this week as a mark of gratitude a plaque has been unveiled to the family.
The Lake Hotel, Killarney took home three prestigious titles from the Irish Hotel Awards last week. Following an in-depth inspection earlier this year, the family run property was named Ireland’s Best Four Star Hotel and, the renowned title of Ireland’s Best Chef was presented to the hotel’s Executive Chef, Noel Enright.
Máirín Hughes, who was born in Belfast in 1914 and grew up in Killarney, Co Kerry, celebrated her landmark birthday on May 22 at Maryfield Nursing Home in Dublin.
