In 1801, Danbury, CT Baptists crafted a letter to then President Thomas Jefferson. They were expressing their frustration with the amount of influence the Congregational churches had over decisions in the Danbury area. The Baptists argued that it's not religious groups that should set the taxes, or move the economy, these decisions should be made independent of any religion.
Danbury, CT was a strategic location during the American Revolution. The city served as a major supply depot for the Patriotic war effort, as ordered by General George Washington but just 100 Continental soldiers were tasked with guarding it.
I think there are a handful of places in Danbury that residents are really curious about but never bother to look into, one of those places is the Danbury Airport. We pass it on the way to the mall, or leaving after a day of shopping. We look down on it from Route 7 and wonder about it, but most of us simply don’t know.
